Local Councils are under constant pressure to deliver quality services and facilities to their local communities. Parkitect’s free design service is one way we’re helping councils manage their costs.
Parks and neighbourhood playgrounds help create a strong sense of community. They’re places families spend time together. Where kids of all ages and abilities can explore, learn and test their skills – and simply have fun.
In Australia, there’s an increasing community expectation for local councils to provide quality recreational facilities like parks, sports grounds and playspaces.
Pressure on local councils to provide quality playspaces
With councils constrained in their ability to raise funds, increasing populations, and rising costs, they’re faced with the problem of how to deliver the facilities people expect.
When it comes to providing local community infrastructure, councils need to do more with less.
Here are a couple of examples where our Modular Pumptracks have helped councils and communities make real savings.
Regional Development Australia – Far West NSW: Tibooburra pump track
The Regional Development Australia – Far West NSW works alongside local councils to “build partnerships to develop strategies and deliver sustainable infrastructure and services to their regions.”
When weighing up their options for a local playground it was clear that, for communities out of the major regional centres, cost was a big issue.
Leesa Zupanovich, Project Manager, Regional Development Australia – Far West NSW, was involved in the decision to build a pump track in Tibooburra (NSW). “Because of our remote location, it was extremely expensive to create a quality local playspace.
“From the initial enquiry to the final delivery on site, the communication and information provided by Parkitect were outstanding and professional. It made the process of this project trouble-free.”
Curlew Community Park pump track in Laverton
Another Parkitect project was the pump track at Curlew Community Park (Laverton Victoria). It was part of a major upgrade by Hobson Bay City Council.
As with most projects, the council was looking for a sustainable, economical playspace solution. Parkitect worked with JMac Constructions, who were appointed to build the track, to prepare the installation and help them understand the Modular Pumptrack system.
